Aim

This Level 6 programme is designed to equip learners with the critical skills, knowledge and attitudes to manage projects in an efficient and effective way using internationally recognised project management tools and techniques.

It will also provide a strong foundation for any learners who meet the prerequisites of the globally recognised PMI (Project Management Institute) to take the PMP (Project Management Professional) exam.

Objectives

At the end of this course learners should be able to:

  1. Understand and utilise project management skills, concepts, tools and techniques to manage projects in commercial, community and/or personal settings in a more effective and efficient manner
  2. Construct a project charter taking into consideration the primary constraints governing most projects
  3. Identify and appreciate the role of different stakeholders who impact on projects
  4. Explain and understand the project life cycle concept and the five standard phases along the life cycle namely; a) initiation, b) planning, c) executing, d) monitoring and e) controlling and closing
  5. Define and understand the relevance of the ten project management knowledge areas as defined by the internationally recognised PMI (Project Management Institute, Philadelphia)
  6. Understand and use a range of key project management tools in relation to budgeting, scheduling, risk assessment and monitoring and controlling
  7. Define and address common challenges facing project manager

Duration

6 days contact time but learners should note that they will require up to 40 hours own time development for course related tasks, revision and assessments.

How Will I Learn?

This course is delivered using international best practice in adult learning. As a result the programme is highly participatory using a range of training tools, methods and techniques to ensure that participants get the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge, learn from each other and are given the opportunity to apply and practice the critical skills, knowledge and attitudes required to be an excellent project manager.
