Prior to establishing MCX Training & Development in 2007 Michael accumulated a range of experience, knowledge and skills working in private, public and social enterprises in Ireland and overseas.
Michael was Head of Training & Education with Chambers Ireland prior to establishing MCX Training & Development. During this time Michael was responsible for the establishment and launch of Ireland’s largest private training company, the Chamber Business School, with budgets in excess of €4m. His duties included the design and development of company and industry strategic training plans. He was responsible for facilitating the ‘Grow your Company IQ’ programme which resulted in a DIT Diploma in Innovation. He also negotiated certification for a Diploma in Business Practice with NUI Galway.
Prior to his work with Chambers Ireland, Michael was Deputy CEO of Waterford Chamber. While at Waterford Chamber, Michael established Training Solutions in 2002 and was responsible for the identification, design and development of open programmes and bespoke in-company training provision. This training business won a runner up award at the World Chamber Congress in Durban, South Africa in 2005. This is a most treasured achievement for Michael.

In the mid 1990’s, on a two year contract working in Swaziland, Africa, Michael was responsible for developing an integrated long term national strategy to stimulate enterprise through training, with a range of soft and financial supports. This plan was funded by the Kings Trust in 1997 and was implemented in its entirety by 2009.
Michael’s consultancy work has great range, and includes
- the development of bespoke training programmes
- designing, conducting and interpreting in-house training needs analysis
- training grant applications
- evaluating and designing evaluations of training at all levels as defined by Kirkpatrick (level 1 – Measuring Reaction, Level 2 – Measuring Learning achieved, Level 3 – Measuring change in behaviour & Level 4 – Measuring the impact of a training intervention on business performance)
- developing training strategies that result in a desired cultural shift in organisations
